I’m sick of endless MEETINGS, of techers tired eyes
“you NEED to take him home again”, they said with painful SIGHS
I wonder how they miss the SHAME and fear in your brown eyes the defeat that you strongly feels as dreams of learning dies
I wish that you could teel me what has made you so UPSET
Your words have gotten TANGLED, before your thoughts are even met
i sip a long cold coffe as round the yard you TURN
shirll whale song beats out TIP TOE steps that mark the peace you yearn
It’s hard to watch you STRUGGLE with everything you try
And watch much younger children swiftly PASS you by
Sometimes I get so tired, of other’s people STARES
As you thrash and SCREAM ignoring better parents glares
I wish that I could close BOTH my eyes at the same time
Not worry where you are running to, or wondering what you’ll climb
I wish that cars went broom and zoom-instead they only SPIN
I wish your toys were PLAYED with instead of buried in the bin
I wish you weren’t the only one who NEVER asked to play
To see you WATCH them jealously-not knowing what to say
But then I must REMIND my self, its not all as it seems
I love you son for WHO YOU ARE, we must dream different dreams
In your world running is for fun-it makes you WILD and FREE
And nothing could be better than to CLIMB the highest tree
“Come stand out in RAIN mum, for here you taste God’s tears”
“Just let Him wash away all the JUDGEMENT and the jeers”
“Have you ever seen a RAINBOW bubble floating through the sky?”
“Or watch the sun teases dust motes through FLICKING finger eyes?”
“Have you ever swung HIGH enough that surely you can fly?”
Or spun the world till COLOURS mix and run-just try!
Do you understand the joyful sound of CRUNCHING autums leaves
Or how to press your TOES just right to feel the tension ease
So as I lie beside him now – (he’s finally gone to SLEEP)
I realize the PRECIOUS things he gives to me to keep
The trust and love between us is a PRECIOUS thing we share
He doesn’t need to JOIN my world-I need to join him there
